John Charles Robbins, 84, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 22, 2018. John was born on April 12, 1934 in Fairbury, IL. He married his high school sweetheart, Lynne Vynalek, on April 12, 1952.

John was raised in the Salem Mennonite Children's Home from age 2 to 12. He graduated from Elmhurst College in Elmhurst, IL. John served his country in the Navy reserves and U.S. Air Force from 1950-1954. Part of that time, he was stationed in Rabat in North Africa.

He and Lynne raised their family in Hinsdale, IL, relocating to Rochelle. His outgoing personality led him to pursue a career in pharmaceutical sales. He enjoyed time at Table Rock Lake, MO and Siesta Key, FL. John enjoyed their many pets throughout the years. He was a people person and made friends wherever he went. John loved being with his family, his home, and reading. John was a member of Rochelle United Methodist Church and Golden K. He looked forward to times spent with his McDonald's breakfast bunch.

John is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Lynne; daughters, Daryl Jean Dayton of Maryland and Donna (John) Hansen of Rochelle; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Hansen, Jenna Hansen, and Ian (Christina) Dayton; one great granddaughter, Sibylla Dayton; and extended family and buddy, Ben.

John is preceded in death by his parents, Everette and Charlotte Robbins; parents through marriage, Ella and Anton Vyhnalek; his sister, June (Ron) Sears; and his brother, Bill (Shirley) Robbins.

Cremation care has been provided by the Unger-Horner Funeral Home. Memorial funeral service will be at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, June 30, 2018 at the Rochelle United Methodist Church with Pastor Rob Hamilton officiating. Visitation will be on Saturday at the church from 9:00-10:30 A.M.
