John J. Wheeler, 88, passed away Thursday, September 24, 2015 at home. John was born in McLeansboro, IL, May 30, 1927 to John Sr. and Dollie (Jordan) Wheeler. He married Helen Braddy on June 3, 1950 in Mount Vernon, IL. John worked for General Electric for many years before retiring. He was preceded in death by three sisters: Betty Wilson, Ruby Watt and Belva Buchanan.

John is survived by his wife of 65 years, Helen, eight children: Terry (Connie) Wheeler of Cortland, IL, Brenda (Dale) Satterlee of Houston, TX, Sandi (Kirk) Johanning of Rochelle, Cheryl Wheeler of Houston, TX, Patti Braffet of Leland, IL, Norma Wheeler of Houston, TX, Jordan (Lusia) Wheeler of Houston, TX and Max (Brittney) Wheeler of Rochelle, IL; 13 grandchildren; one step-grandson and several great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, September 26, 2015 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle with Chaplain Judy Williams officiating. The visitation will be from 9:30 - 11:00 A.M., Saturday prior to the service. Burial will follow at Flagg Center Cemetery in Rochelle. A memorial has been established.
