José A. Ordaz, 83, passed away Monday, May 20, 2024 at his home in Rochelle surrounded by his family.  José was born on January 27, 1941, the son of José and Rosa (Aguilera) Ordaz in Zacatecas, Mexico.  On October 20, 1971, he married Gloria Espinoza in El Paso, TX.  He worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad for 30 years.

José enjoyed watching Western movies and boxing matches, eating out, chocolates and sweets, dancing, listening to music, and spending time with his family.  He enjoyed getting to know people.  Anywhere he went, he was one to always strike up a conversation with strangers and make friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his six younger siblings and great granddaughter, Paloma.

José is survived by his wife of 52 years, Gloria of Rochelle; children; Jesus, Rosa, Debora, Lorena and Carla; sister, Angelina who is 94 years old; grandchildren: Gloria, Gabriela, Jordan, Paola, Romario, Sabrina, Mireya, Ronaldo, Maria Teresa, Diego, Verania, Joseantonio and Sofia; great grandchildren: Julianna, Jonathan, Alexzander, Jack, Jamieson, Xiomara, Juan Martin and one on the way.

The visitation will be from 4:00 - 7:00 P.M., Friday, May 24, 2024 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle.  The funeral mass will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, May 25 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 236 Kelley Drive, Rochelle with Father Jesus Dominguez officiating.  The burial will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery in Rochelle.  Visit www.ungerhorner.com to sign the online guest book.

José A. Ordaz, de 83 años, falleció el lunes 20 de mayo de 2024 en su casa de Rochelle rodeado de su familia. José nació el 27 de enero de 1941, hijo de José y Rosa (Aguilera) Ordaz en Zacatecas, México. El 20 de octubre de 1971 se casó con Gloria Espinoza en El Paso, TX. Trabajó para Burlington Northern Railroad durante 30 años.

A José le gustaba ver películas vaqueras y peleas de box, salir a comer, comer chocolates y dulces de todo tipo, bailar, escuchar música y pasar tiempo con su familia. Le gustaba conocer gente. Dondequiera que iba, siempre entablaba una conversación con extraños y hacía amigos.

Además de sus padres, le precedieron en la muerte sus seis hermanos menores y su bisnieta, Paloma.

A José le sobreviven su esposa durante 52 años, Gloria de Rochelle; hijos: Jesus, Marayudith, Rosa, Debora, Lorena y Carla; hermana, Angelina que tiene 94 años; nietos: Gloria, Gabriela, Jordan, Paola, Romario, Sabrina, Mireya, Ronaldo, María Teresa, Diego, Verania, Joseantonio y Sofia: bisnietos: Julianna, Jonathan, Alexzander, Jack, Jamieson, Xiomara, Juan Martín y uno en camino.

El velorio será de 4:00 a 7:00 p. m., el viernes 24 de mayo de 2024 en la funeraria Unger-Horner, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle. La misa funeral se llevará a cabo a las 10:00 a.m. el sábado 25 de mayo en la iglesia católica St. Patrick, 236 Kelley Drive, Rochelle, con el padre Jesús Domínguez oficiando.
