Joseph Robert Kubiak, 86, passed away Saturday, September 24, 2022, at Liberty Village in Rochelle, Illinois. Joe was born on October 17, 1935, the son of Kasper and Francis (Wylepski) Kubiak in La Salle, IL. On July 21, 1962, he married Arlene Elizabeth Guccini in Granville, IL. He worked for Swift and then for the preceding meat packing businesses that followed: Dubuque, Hormel and FDL Foods, and was an active member of the union.
Joe is survived by his wife of 60 years, Arlene (Guccini) Kubiak of Rochelle; his two daughters: Michele (James) Horvath and Lisa
(Kubiak) Rogers both of Rochelle; eight grandchildren: Jonathan, Rachael (Douglas) Larson, Joseph, Joshua, Gabriel, Philip and Micah Horvath, Tristan Rogers, and great grandson, Wesson Ozinga.
Joe was a veteran of the Korean War. He served with the US Army Corp of Engineers First Calvary Division as a construction equipment operator to rebuild the Country of South Korea after the war. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family and friends. He was a lifelong member of St. Patrick's Church in Rochelle, IL
The visitation will be from 9:00 - 10:00 A.M., Thursday, September 29, 2022 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle. The funeral service will follow at 10:00 with Father Jesus Dominguez officiating. Burial will be at a later time in St. Hyacinth Cemetery in La Salle, IL.
