Joseph M. Smith, Jr., 53, passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at Rochelle Community Hospital.  Joe was born on August 19, 1970 to Joseph M. and Jane L. (Ponto) Smith in Dixon, IL.  Joe worked for over 15 years at Hayes Cabinetry, and then at the Eagle Grocery Store, Sullivan's, Dunkin' Donuts and Nippon Shario.

Joe enjoyed motorcross and had many trophies that he was very proud of. He played PlayStation 4 quite often.

Joe is survived by his mother, Jane (Chuck) Schell of Steward, IL; two brothers: Jason (Trease) Smith of Oklahoma and Jeff Schell of Steward, IL; six nieces and nephews: Gracie Lou, Rachael, Jada, Kayla, CJ and Mason; several aunts and uncles and special friend, Julie Ansteth of Rochelle.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 P.M., Saturday, February 10, 2024 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle with Pastor Dave Rogula officiating.  The visitation will be right before the service from 2:00 - 3:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
