Josephine M. Larson Tikkala, age 89 of Rochelle, passed away on Tuesday, July 3, 2007 at West Rochelle Nursing and Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. She was born on May 2, 1918 in Rochelle, the daughter of Peter and Christine (Udesen) Larson and was a life long resident. She graduated from Rochelle Township High School in 1937. Josephine met Arne H. Tikkala and they were married on July 3, 1941 in Rochelle. She was a homemaker but also a working companion of her husband in the construction business. She was a bookkeeper for Tikkala Construction for many years. Josephine and Arne were well known for their love of dancing. She loved to sew, crossword puzzles and spending time at her summer home on Lauderdale Lakes, Elkhorn, WI.

Josephine was preceded in death by her husband on Nov.12, 2004 and a grandson: Jon Eric Jacobson; 3 sisters: Virginia Larson, Ruth Eich, and Helen Stevens; and a brother: Walter Larson.

Survivors include a daughter: Virginia (Dr. Jon) Jacobson of Lauderdale Lakes, WI; a son: Terry (Diana Klein) Tikkala of Rochelle; 2 grandsons: Michael (Tami) Jacobson of Phoenix, AZ
and Jeffrey (Sarah) Jacobson and great grandson Benjamin of Madison, WI; a brother-in-law: Willard Tikkala of Springfield, Virginia and sister-in-law: Helen Larson of Mount Morris, IL.

Memorial Services will be at the First Presbyterian Church in Rochelle with Rev Dr. John Hamilton on Thursday, July 12, 2007 at 11:00 AM with a visitation from 10 to 11 AM.
Memorials can be made to the First Presbyterian Church. Cremation services were arranged by Unger-Horner Funeral Home.
