Joy Lee Phillips, 95, passed away Thursday, August 17, 2023 at Serenity Hospice and Home in Oregon, Illinois.  Joy was born on April 16, 1928 to Emil O. and Vera L. (Stevens) Fisher in Mendota, IL.  On March 27, 1949, she married Charles Behrends. He passed at a young age on October 28, 1969.  Later, she married Lloyd Phillips on August 3, 1974.  He preceded her in death on February 1, 1990.

Joy was a sales clerk for many years at Sears.  She was a long time member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and circle. She enjoyed playing on a bowling league, creating many friendships along the way.  In her later years, she looked forward to her Saturday lunches with "the girls".  Everyone who knew her, would agree that she was true to her name, "Joy".

In addition to her parents and husbands, Joy is preceded in death by her daughter, Janet Freeman on January 30, 2020;  grandson, Broc Mohler; and step-son-in-law, Jerry Kersten.

Joy is survived by three children: Brenda (Ray) Rainwater, Alan (Sue Mohler) Behrends and Gail (Jeff) Myers all of Rochelle; step-children, Lynn Kersten, Ann (Dewight) Page, and Alan (Wendy) Phillips; son-in-law, Ron Freeman of Dixon, IL; eight grandchildren: Jason (Monica) Freeman, Jeff Rainwater, Jill (Troy) O'Brien, Jesse (Skylar) Myers, Kelsey (Dylan) Schmitz, Tiffany (Todd) Adamson, Brittany (Max) Mohler and Natasha (Josh) Mohler; 11 great grandchildren: Dakotah Freeman, Delaney Freeman, Mackenzie Joy Freeman, Tucker O'Brien, Jake O'Brien, William O'Brien, Cael Plemmons, Kayden and Khloe Cook, Libby and Lettie Myers; two great great grandchildren: Maverick Benton and Remington Black; two sisters-in-law: Evelyn Hintzsche of Rochelle and Donna Fisher of Ohio, many cousins, nieces, nephews and her best friend of 67 years, Gussy Ennen.

The visitation will be from 9:00 - 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle.
