Joyce Y. Kivikko, 76, passed away Monday, December 23, 2013 in Rochelle, Illinois. Joyce was born December 18, 1937 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin to Verner and Julia (Haugen) Hays. She married Reino R. Kivikko Jr. on February 1, 2003 in Byron, Illinois. He preceded her on July 2, 2003. Joyce worked at Bob's Hardware as a manager for many years. She was also preceded in death by her parents and two brothers: Duane and Robert Hays.

Joyce is survived by her son, David (Susan Tyler) Brown of Rochelle, daughter, Melanie Lutzow of Rochelle, brother, Richard (Sherry) Hays of Byron, two sisters: Delores (Eldor) Bethke of Madison, WI and Gloria (Robert) Valska of Pacific, MO; nine grandchildren: Jason, Amber, Skylar, Trisha, Tiffani, Traci, Josh, Sarah and Emily and nine great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 3:00 P.M., Friday, December 27, 2013 at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Rockford, 4848 Turner St., Rockford, IL. Unger-Horner Funeral Home helped with the immediate burial at White Rock Cemetery in Kings, IL. Memorial has been established to the family.
