Vivian Juanita "Nita" Hultgren, 90, passed away Friday, March 28, 2014 at her son, Craig's, home in Pecatonica, Illinois. Nita was born May 18, 1923 in Cincinnati, Iowa to David and Agnes (Gugliemetti) VanBlaricom. She was a 1941 graduate of West High School in Rockford, then worked at Ma Bell as a phone operator. She met Robert W. Hultgren in Rockford and married him on January 13, 1943 in Dubuque, Iowa. Nita was a homemaker and supported her husband over the years in many business adventures. She enjoyed crafts, playing cards, rock and bug collecting. Nita especially loved watching her grandchildren play for the Hubs.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, in 2007, her parents, sister, Ruth Adams, 5 sister-in-laws: Edith Grans, Gudrun Parker, Alice Johnson, Lois Hultgren, and Pug Hultgren; and 5 brother-in-laws: Roy Hultgren, Bob Adams, John Grans, Bill Johnson and Leroy Dearth. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the loving and caring staff at OSF Hospice; Marilyn, Chris, Cindy, Lauren, Ed and our special girls: Meggan, Jennifer, Kelly, and Teresa.

Vivian is survived by two sons: Craig (Susan) Hultgren of Pecatonica; and Vance (Lois) Hultgren of Rochelle; two brother-in-laws: Harry and Walter Hultgren of Rockford; sister-in-law, Eleanor Dearth of Rockford; 3 grandsons: Jeff (Becca) Nelson & Travis (Lacey) Nelson both of Idaho Falls, ID, and Brian (Nicole) Hultgren of Jacksonville, FL; one granddaughter, Stacey (Sagar Upadhyaya) Hultgren of Chicago; four great grandchildren: Quentin, Callianne, Mack and Kylee and three step great-grandchildren: Jordyn, Nic and Hannah.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at the Unger Horner Funeral Home, 400 N 6 ^th St., Rochelle. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5 - 7 PM at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at the Lawnridge Mausoleum in Rochelle.
