Ashton

Judith L. Bartels, 65, loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and grandmother passed away Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at her home in Ashton. Judith was born June 20, 1951 to Edward and Betty (Puhl) Schreuder in Paw Paw, MI. She graduated from the University of Michigan in 1973 as a member of the Alpha Omicron Pi sorority with a RN/BSN degree. She married Dennis A. Bartels on September 8, 1973 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Judy worked for the Rochelle Community Hospital, Swedish American Hospital in the Oncology Department and at KSB Hospital as the nursing coordinator. She is preceded in death by her father, Ed, in March of 2016.

Judy's family would like to thank all the care givers, nurses, doctors and all other nursing personnel along with special friends who helped and cared for her over the last 2 ½ years as she was battling cancer.

Judy is survived by her husband, Dennis, two daughters: Stephanie (Shawn) Conover of Braircliff Manor, NY and Courtney Bartels of Bloomfield, CO; her mother, Betty Schreuder of Lawton, MI; sister, Pam (Steve) Wilcox of Mattawan, MI and two grandchildren: Reilly and Samantha Conover.

A memorial visitation will be held from 3:00 - 6:00 P.M., Sunday, October 23, 2016 at the First Presbyterian Church, 1100 Calvin Rd., Rochelle. An additional visitation will be from 10:00 - 11:00 A.M., Monday, October 24, 2016 at the church followed by a memorial service at 11:00 A.M., with Pastors Doug Forsberg and Jim Tilley officiating.
