Judith K. Sweet Ackland, 67 of Davis, IL; passed away on Sunday, Aug. 22, 2010 at her
home. She was born June 1, 1943 in Rochelle, the daughter of Milo James and
Celia Arlene (Halsne) Prentice. Judy married Richard Charles Sweet in 1966 and he preceded her in 2000. She then married Thomas L. Ackland on June 9, 2007 in Durand, IL. Judy
graduated from Rochelle Township High School in 1961, then received her BS degree in1965
at the University of Illinois, and later her MS degree in 1978 at NIU. She taught at the Rockford
Guilford High School from 1967 to 1994. Active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Durand. Judy was a member of the Alpha XI Delta Sorority, AM Bridge Association and an avid
bowler. She is preceded in death by her parents, sister: Carol Friedlander, and 3 nephews: Jeff Sweet, Glenn Sweet and Ron Lohmeier.

Judy had many, many friends. The people who truly loved her, will miss her style and grace
which she brought to whatever event in which she participated. I know she would like to thank
Angel Rosilez at Northern IL Hospice, a caring nurse and friend, who helped us through this terrible final stage of cancer. The whole Hospice experience made all the difference to us.

Survivors include her husband: Tom Ackland of Davis; niece Laurel (Karina Sanchez) Friedlander of Granada Hills, CA; 2 step sons: Todd (Natasha) Ackland of Lake Zurich, IL and Mark (Becky) Ackland of Rochelle, IL; 2 nephews Russ (Linda) Lohmeier of Davis and Michael (Pamela) Sweet of Davis, niece: Lisa (Larry) Voyles of Benson, IL; sister-in-law: Maxine (Roy) Lohmeier; great nieces and nephews and many cousins: and very good friend: "Razz" her labradoodle.

Services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Durand, IL on Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Lee Bennight, with cremation to follow. Visitation on Friday, Aug. 27th from 5 to 8 PM at the Church in Durand. Family requests memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church or to Northern IL Hospice.
