Judy L. Horter 68 of Rochelle, IL died early Saturday, Sept. 15, 2007 in her home. She was born Sept. 4, 1939 in Creston, IL, the daughter of Perry and Lillian (White) Shook. She married Norman Horter on June 6, 1966 in Rochelle. She had been employed as a secretary for Kishwaukee College in Malta.

Judy was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. She was very active in the church
and was a Deacon, Elder and Clerk of Session and sang in the church choir for many years.
Judy participated in Relay For Life. In 1956 she graduated from Stillman Valley High School
and attended Waldorf College in Iowa.


Survivors include her husband Norm of Rochelle, a son: Blaise Horter of Davis Junction, IL;
Brother: Vinton Vesta of WI; brother-in-law: Chet Gillis of of Franklin Grove, IL; special niece and nephews: Mary Jo (Marvin) Metzger and Mark Gillis and Steve (Pam) Gillis; great nephews: Gabriel, and Austin and great nieces: Nora and Danelle, and many other nieces and nephews. She was preceded by a sister Mary Gillis in 1997.

Services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Rochelle, on Wed. Sept. 19, 2007 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Dr. John Hamilton and Rev. Dr. James Tilley officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday, Sept. 18th from 4 to 7 Pm at Unger-Horner Funeral Home. Memorials can be made to the First Presbyterian Church or to Ogle County Hospice. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Creston.
