Kathy Ann Brooks, age 67, passed away on Monday, August 24, 2026 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, IA. She was born in Waupun, Wisconsin on February 25, 1959, the daughter of Lawrence and Evelyn (VanDerGalien) Beekman. She grew up in Randolph, Wisconsin, where she graduated from highschool and enjoyed teaching swimming lessons.
Kathy worked as a CNA at Beaver Dam Hospital and later married Harold Brooks on October 13, 1979. They moved to Ohio in 1983 where she worked as a Head Teller and in the loan department for seven years before moving to Rochelle, Illinois. Once in Rochelle, Kathy worked as a dental assistant and then co-managed the Super Lube Store until her retirement.
Kathy served as a Christian Education Director for First Presbyterian Church during the late 90's and early 2000's. Kathy Will be remembered for her kind caring heart for others. Her love for God, her Church, and her undying love and devotion to her family. She found great joy in spending time with her family and took great pride in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Harold Brooks; two daughters: Stacey (Corey) Ansteth, and Taryn (Bryan Metzger) Brooks; two brothers: Duane (Debra) Beekman, and Kevin (Stacey) Beekman; her sister Patricia (Richard) Hiley; her seven grandchildren: Alexis, Gavin (Becca), Kendal. (Zeke), Quentin, Cailyn, Brandyn, and Camryn; and her great-grandchildren: Beau, Berkley, Kayzen, and Callahan. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial visitation will be held on Monday, August 31, 2026 from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. at the First Presbyterian Church, Rochelle. Memorial service will follow at 11:00 A.M. on Monday with Pastor Mark Hughey officiating. Cremation care provided by Unger Horner Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Presbyterian Thrift Shop. Guest book at www.UngerHorner.com
