Kathy Dawn Daugherty, 61, passed away Friday, September 22, 2023 at Katherine Shaw Bethea  Hospital in Dixon, Illinois.  Kathy was born on May 23, 1962 to Wilbern and Nell (Lukancic) Milligan in Dixon, IL.

Kathy had a beautiful smile.  She never met a stranger and had a heart for people.  Her job at the Shell Station in Mt. Morris was the perfect place for her, giving her ample opportunity to engage with others on a daily basis.  She thoroughly enjoyed her time there and the many friendships it developed.  Kathy was often considered a second mom. She spent many pleasurable hours scrapbooking and loved the time she spent with her daughter, Katie.  Her animals brought her great joy as well.

Kathy is survived by her daughter, Katie Daugherty of Mt. Morris, IL; close friends of Katie and Kathy, Jimmy Rossi of Mt. Morris, IL and and John Griffiths of Chicago, IL; two brothers: Brett (Tammy) Milligan and Bartt Milligan both of Rochelle, IL; two sisters: Tracy Brooks of Sycamore, IL and Vicki Milligan of Des Moines, IA and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Keely Sue Simmons and grandson, Donald Allen Lee Summers.

A memorial visitation will be from 3:00 - 5:00 P.M., Friday, September 29, 2023 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle.  The funeral service will follow at 5:00 P.M., Friday with Pastor Joy Alsop officiating.  Cremation care has been provided by the Unger-Horner Funeral Home.
