Catherine E. "Katie" Stroud, age 16 with an earthly life of 91, of Rochelle, passed away on Sunday, July 10, 2011 at Rochelle Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Rochelle. She was born on Aug 11, 1919 in Mt. Vernon, IL to Frank Acel and Mary Alice (Williamson) Beardin. Katie married Donald Roy Gentry in 1939 and he was killed in action during WWII in 1945. She was also preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Al, Lee, John and Winnie Beardin; and sisters: Imogene Mattera, Fern Casey and Bernice Spears. In 1947, Katie married Lloyd Stroud Jr. She was a member of
Northern IL Tres Dias Community, First Presbyterian Church in Rochelle and lifetime member of VFW Auxiliary.

Survivors include her husband: Lloyd of Rochelle; son: Donald LeRoy (Gail) Gentry of Green Valley, AZ; daughter Connie (Jim) Garrison of Rochelle; grandchildren: Todd Gentry of Chandler, AZ, Chad (Colleen) Gentry of Gilberts, AZ, Marcus (Bretta) Miller of Cedar Rapids, IA and Brook (B.J.) Miller of Dixon, IL; great grandchildren: Curren and Cali Gentry, Benjamin Miller, Zachary Miller, and Autumn Philp.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, July 14, 2011 at 10:30AM, at the First Presbyterian Church in Rochelle with Rev. Dr. James Tilley. Visitation will be at First Presbyterian Church in Rochelle on Wed. July 13th from 5 to 7 PM. Cremation rites arranged by Unger-Horner Funeral Home in Rochelle. Inurnment at Trinity Memory Gardens. Memorials to the First Presbyterian Church Sunday School, or Northern IL Tres Dias Community.
