He served in the Air Force for 4 years as a crew chief stationed in England.  He remained there for 9 years after working on the Concorde, a British supersonic airliner.  He returned to the U.S. and became a structural engineer and retired in 1995.  His faith in the Lord, Jesus Christ was the most important thing to him, and he was a long term member of the First Baptist Church in Rochelle.

He is survived by his wife Barbara; 4 daughters:  Lorna Brieltz, of CA, Katherine (Ray) Weems of Ottawa, IL, Terry Bunger of Rochelle, Elizabeth Bullard of New York; son-in-law: Roger Bunger of Clare, IL; grandchildren: Ray (Nicole) Weems, Rachel (Kyle) Aldridge, Joshua (Christy) Bunger, Rebecca Bunger, Ivan Bunger, Katie (Wade) Arthur, and Alex (Veronika) Bunger; great-grandchildren: Rowan, Eden, Easton, Ellie, Charlie, and Owen; and one very special kitty, Ellie.

Memorial visitation will be held Friday December 3rd, 2021 from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, 810 Woolf Court, Rochelle.  Memorial service will follow at 11:00 AM with pastor Doug Cowan officiating.  Memorials can be made to First Baptist Church.  Please visit www.ungerhorner.com for online guest book.
