Kenneth Seymour Brown, a devoted husband, loving father, caring brother, and adored grandfather and great grandfather, passed away on January 17, 2025, in Cherokee Village Arkansas. He was reunited with his beloved wife, Laverne, stepdaughter, Donna Babb, his parents, Thomas and Cora Brown, and his siblings: Opal, Nadine, Delbert, Doyle, and Arnold, who predeceased him. He is survived by his son, James (Vicki) Brown; stepdaughter, Phyllis (Richard) Ott; grandchildren: Brittany Brown, Jessica (Jake) Thomas, Brad (Mara) Johnson, JoEllen Johnson, Amy Tofa, and Matthew Huffstatler; numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. His life was a beautiful one filled with love, family, service, and cherished moments.
Born on November 14, 1927, in Wister, Oklahoma, Kenneth was the beloved eldest son of Thomas Jefferson Brown and Cora Lee Garven Brown. He shared a close bond with his seven siblings: Opal Lozel, Ellen Mae, Cora Nadine, Ernest Delbert, Thomas Doyle, Arnold Lee, and Ronald Eugene, who brought adventure, joy and companionship to his life.
On September 29, 1961, Kenneth married the love of his life, Laverne McDermott Ginn. Their union brought together not only their hearts but also two families. Kenneth embraced Phyllis and Donna Ginn as his own, surrounding them with love, care, and unwavering kindness. Their lives were forever enriched by his presence.
December 31, 1967, marked a day of immeasurable joy and pride as Kenneth and Laverne welcomed their son, Kenneth James Brown, into the world. Kenneth embraced his role as a father with great dedication, providing love, guidance, and support to his cherished son. The bond they shared was
unbreakable and filled with treasured memories.
As a grandfather, Kenneth found immense joy in the presence of his grandchildren. Brittany Brown, Jessica Thomas, Brad Johnson, JoEllen Johnson, Amy Tofa, and Matthew Huffstatler who brought laughter, love, and a renewed sense of wonder into his life. He cherished the moments spent with
them, leaving an indelible imprint on their hearts.
Kenneth dedicated 20 years of his life to the Del Monte Corporation in Rochelle, Illinois. His commitment, hard work, and integrity were admired by his colleagues, and he made lasting contributions to the company until his well-deserved retirement in 1990.
In his leisure time, Kenneth indulged in various hobbies that brought him great joy. He would enjoy himself by reading books, challenge his mind with word search puzzles, find serenity tending to his garden, and experience tranquility while fishing. Above all, he delighted in the playful pursuit of his beloved Laverne, creating cherished memories of laughter and love.
Ken made his home in Rochelle, Illinois for over 60 years. He was loved and respected by his neighbors and enjoyed sharing and helping them, especially Clem and Karen McCandless and children, his next-door neighbors. During his final years, Kenneth resided in Cherokee Village, Arkansas, where he found solace and contentment. He enjoyed boat rides, fishing, and the simple pleasure of bird watching and looking at the lake. These moments allowed him to connect with nature and appreciate the beauty of the world around him.
Kenneth's service to his country during the Korean conflict as a tank mechanic showcased his bravery, selflessness, and commitment to duty. He answered the call to serve, demonstrating unwavering dedication and loyalty to his fellow servicemen and his country.
As we honor the remarkable life of Kenneth Seymour Brown, let us remember his unwavering love, kindness, and the impact he made on our lives. His legacy of devotion, wisdom, and joy will continue to inspire and guide us. Kenneth has left this earthly realm, but his spirit will forever live on in the hearts and memories of those who knew and loved him. May his soul find eternal peace, and may we carry his love, wisdom, and cherished memories with us always.
There will be a graveside service, 2:00 P.M., Monday, January 27, 2025 at Trinity Memory Gardens in Rochelle with Ron McDermott officiating and military honors provided by the Eastern Lee-Ogle Honor Guard.
