Obituary

ROCHELLE – Kenneth Carl Roeglin, 89, of Rochelle, passed away on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at Serenity Hospice & Home in Oregon, IL. Kenneth was born May 7, 1927 to Carl and Mary Roeglin in Milwaukee.He served in the United States Navy during World War II. Kenneth married Crystal Joan Kuehl on April 14, 1951 in Milwaukee.

He worked for Swift Co. for over 34 years and moved to Rochelle with his family in 1962. After advancing from the rank of janitor to superintendent in the meat packing industry, Kenneth worked at Fantasy Flavors for seven years and retired in 1991.

Kenneth was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Rochelle. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3878, a member of the American Legion Post 403, and Rochelle Golden K.

He is survived by his wife, Crystal Roeglin, Rochelle; sister, RoseAnn (John) Franckowiak, Milwaukee; son, Dan Roeglin, Hudson, WI; son, Bob (Donna) Roeglin, Monroe Center; son, David (Deborah) Roeglin, Marshfield, WI; and daughter, Jennifer (Skeet) Helfrich, Rochelle.

Kenneth was also survived by 11 grandchildren: Traci (Donovan) Bump, Oak Park Heights, MN, Renee (David) Powers, Bloomington, MN, Rebecca (Isaac Sailer) Roeglin, Hudson, WI, Tara (David) Jepsen, Monroe Center, Brandon (Blair James) Roeglin, Rockford, Brett Roeglin, Marshfield; Nathan Roeglin, Marshfield; Erika Roeglin, Marshfield; Kelly Helfrich, Jeffrey Helfrich, and Kyle Helfrich all of Rochelle and seven great-grandchildren.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Dolores; and brother, Morton.

He enjoyed spending his days outside in the yard with his loving wife, Crystal, watching the Green Bay Packers on Sundays in the Fall, fishing, golfing, and taking advantage of his time with his grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 17, 2017 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6 th St., Rochelle. Casual dress and Green Bay Packers fan apparel are encouraged by the family.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 18 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1415 10 th Ave., Rochelle with Pastor Gregory Hoffmann officiating. Business casual dress is encouraged. A private family burial will be held at Arlington Park Cemetery in Milwaukee.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church and Serenity Hospice & Home.
