Davis Junction

Kevin H. Thomas, 64, of Davis Junction, IL, passed away on March 29, 2023 after a heart attack while at work. Kevin was born February 22, 1959 in DeKalb, IL the son of Harold Honeycutt and Irene Jacox. Kevin met Belinda in 1983 and were married in 1990. They were together for 40 years and married for 33 of those years. During those years, they traveled together to many different states. They enjoyed time together at their campsite during the summer months, riding Kevin's motorcycle together, and antiquing. Several years ago, Tucker and Ellie, their dogs, were added to the family and were very loved by Kevin.

Kevin spent many years of his life as a truck driver, auto mechanic, and being known as a jack of all trades. He always enjoyed life and did anything and everything he could to help people out in any situation. Whatever the situation was, the answer to your question was usually to "call papa."
Kevin is survived by his wife, Belinda; his children: Kevin (Jody) and Stephani (Scott); his grandchildren: Kayli, Jake, and Drew; his mother, Irene; his siblings: Delbert, Frank, Pam, and Mike and many nieces and nephews.

Everyone in the family would always look forward to camping trips with Nana and Papa and visits to their campsite. Whether they were camping or it was Christmas morning, Papa would make his biscuits and gravy that everyone loved. Papa would always spend time with his family. Kevin, Jody, Scott, Jake, and Drew would always go with Papa on their yearly trips to the Byron Dragway and multiple other racing events. On the other hand, whenever Nana and Kayli would play cards, Papa would sit down, demand that they deal him in, and then proceed to beat them every time. He would never let them hear the end of it, but they secretly loved it.

He was the glue that held our family together, through the good times and the bad. He was "The Rock" for many family members, friends and strangers. He would give you the shirt off of his back, the money in his wallet, and the countless hours of time he did not have. Kevin impacted the lives of many and it showed through his physical acts of love and kindness. Kevin will be forever missed, but his selfless love will never be forgotten. Everyone needs a Kevin in their life!

Visitation will be held Sat. April 1, from 10:30AM-1:30 P.M. at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle. Funeral service will follow the visitation at 1:30 P.M. at the funeral home.
