Larry Dean Cleveland, 90, passed away Thursday, May 14, 2026 at OSF Saint Katherine Medical Center in Dixon, Illinois. Larry was born on August 12, 1935, the son of Stanley and Edna (Peters) Cleveland in Amboy, IL. After graduating from high school, Larry worked as a carpenter and in sales before enlisting in the United States Air Force in December 1954. He was honorably discharged in December 1962 and returned to the Rochelle area. In 1963 Larry met and later married Judy R. Larson on September 15, 1963. Through his professional carpentry career he advanced to site foreman on large commercial building projects which included many banks, schools and churches.
After retiring from carpentry work, Larry enjoyed traveling in his motor home and taking pictures wherever he went. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren in school, sporting and dance events. He had the privilege of being a seated greeter at the First Presbyterian Church where he was a member for many years. Long Sunday drives, early morning breakfast with friends, and going to the library were always outings he looked forward to. He especially loved spending time with his family, and visiting friends whenever he got the chance.
In addition to his parents, Larry is preceded in death by his wife, Judy, on March 17, 1983; his sister, Dolores Ball; brother, Donald Cleveland; son-in-law, Tim McDevitt; three brothers-in-law: Jack Schinzer, Dale Stein and Jim Ball; and sister-in-law, Kathy Cleveland.
