Larry Lee Henert, 83, of Davis Junction, passed away Thursday, February 3, 2022, at the Serenity Hospice Home in Oregon. He was born November 26, 1938 in Rochelle, the son of Donald and Lois (Wetzel) Henert. He married Janet Vaupel on April 11, 1958 in Peoria, IL.  Larry worked at Barber Coleman in Rockford for 42 years.

In his younger years, Larry was involved in the Rockford Industrial League men's athletics. He competed in archery, volleyball and softball. He was a member of the Byron Masonic Lodge #274. He served on the Monroe Township Board. Larry was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting deer and turkey as well as fishing. He was a lifetime member of the Plug and Pellet Sportman's Club in Rockford. He enjoyed restoring classic cars and was a member of the Rockford "A's" Model A Club.

Larry is survived by his wife, Janet Henert of Davis Junction; 2 children: Lisa Steffen of Kansas City, MO, and Todd (Cheryl) Henert of Davis Junction; three grandchildren, Marissa Steffen, Cole (Sandy) Henert and Jake (Lexie) Henert; two great-grandchildren, Cooper and Sawyer Henert; sister-in-law, Connie Henert of Ashton; and many nephews.

In addition to his parents, Larry is preceded in death by two brothers, Kim and Neil Henert; and a sister, Jo Ellen Neubauer.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St. in Rochelle. Visitation will be from10:00 A.M. until the time of the service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Ashton Cemetery. A memorial has been established.
