Ashton

Larry L. Meurer, 73, passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at the Rochelle Community Hospital. Larry was born December 17, 1940 to Russell J. W. and Elvina L. (King) Meurer in Amboy, Illinois. He proudly served our country as a sergeant with the IL Army National Guard for six years from 1963 to 1969. Larry married Jo Anne Herwig on November 7, 1965 in Rochelle, Illinois, they enjoyed 49 years together. He farmed in the Ashton area his entire life. His passions were seeing his children and grandchildren excel in sports and academics. Larry was an avid Packers and White Sox fan.

Larry is survived by his wife, Jo Anne, son, Mark (Lynnette) Meurer and daughter, Trista (David) Matson both of Ashton; three brothers: Gene (Wanda) Meurer of Chatham, IL, Chuck (Pauline) Meurer and Merle (Carolyn) Meurer both of Ashton; three sisters: Carol (Robert) Pitzer of Amboy, Bonnie (Steen) Albrecht of Ashton and Peggy (Ed) Higby of Dixon; seven grandchildren: Lindsay (Anthony) Hammond, Logan, Lane and Lauren Meurer, Brian (fiancé, Mackenzie Piller) Treadwell, Sarah Jo Matson and Rebekah Matson and close family friend, Rick Sgro.

The family had a private graveside service at the Ashton Cemetery on Friday, December 6, 2014. Memorials may be made in Larry's memory to Ashton Fire and Rescue.
