Obituary

Laura B. Wright (nee Kaiser), 81, died September 11 at home after a battle with cancer. Born July 27, 1928, in Goodland, Kansas, the daughter of Henry and Mildred (nee Kilgore) Kaiser, she married Kenneth Edwin Wright of Malta, IL on July 10, 1954. They moved to Monroe Center in 1957 and to Rockford in 1980.

Laura graduated from Moody Bible Institute and Northern Illinois University. She taught elementary school for 28 years in Monroe Center. She was an excellent storyteller and was active at the Union Church or Monroe Center teaching Sunday School and helping at VBS and Pioneer Club. She volunteered at the Rockford Area Pregnancy Care Center for 10 years. Her focus in life was to live for Jesus and bring others to Him.

She is survived by a loving and devoted husband, Kenneth; sons, Mark (Deborah) Wright and Brad (Connie) Wright; daughters, Kathy (John) Miedema and Pam Wright; foster son Les (Deb) Kurz; and 8 grandchildren, Matthew, Michelle, Megan, Andrew, Jeff, Nathaniel, Daniel, and Katelyn; sisters Agnes (Harold) Freed, and Pearl (Donald) Gould; brother Robert (Karen) Kaiser; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Mildred Kaiser; Brother Floyd Kaiser; sisters Dorothy Kenaston and Bernadine Martens; and grandson Isaac Wright.

Services at 10:00 Saturday, September 19, 2009 at the Union Church of Monroe Center with interment following at Monroe Center Cemetery. Visitation 5:00 – 8:00 Friday, September 18, 2009 at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be sent to the Union Church of Monroe Center, Rockford Area Pregnancy Care Center or OSF Hospice.
