LaVerne "Kim" P. Carter, 57, of Chana, passed away on Wed. Jan. 6, 2010 at St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford. He was born on Nov. 30, 1952 in Rochelle, the son of LaVerne Etsel and Lois Marian (Swartz) Carter. LaVerne married Kathy Paul on Jan. 9, 1975 in Oregon, IL. During the Vietnam Conflict, he served in the U.S. Army and was a machinist for Tool Masters in Stillman Valley, IL. His parents preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife: Kathy of Chana; 2 sisters: Julie (Ronnie) Jacobs of Davis Junction, IL and Linda (Dennis) Rutledge of Mount Morris, IL; brothers-in-law: Terry and Larry Paul;
2 nephews: Mike and Justin and 2 nieces: Kristina and Nicole and in laws: Edward and Arlene Paul.

Visitation will be at Unger-Horner Funeral Home in Rochelle, on Monday, Jan. 11, 2010 from
4 to 7 PM. Graveside services at Trinity Memory Gardens on Tuesday, Jan. 12th at 11:30 AM
