Rochelle

Lawrence A. Capes, 83, died Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at his home. Larry was born December 11, 1932 to Lorenzo and Mabel (Shelton) Capes in Rochelle, IL. After serving his country in the United States Marine Corps, Larry worked as a mechanic for 21 years for Swift & Company and then ten years at Anderson Plumbing before retiring in 2008. Larry enjoyed his family and his trusty Beagle, Dexter. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Orville; his sister, Laura Swick and his brother-in-law, Jimmy Tapp.

Larry is survived by his three sons: Larry (Bonnie), Lonnie (Peggy Simpson) and Lenny (Carolyn) all of Rochelle; six brothers: Emmett (Carol), Reuben "Pete" (Lillie Mae) both of Rochelle, Leon (Norma) of Oregon, Ray (Joanne) of South Beloit, Lorenzo "Bill" (Gayle) of Rockford and Duane (Nancy) of Rochelle; three sisters: Norma (John) Atkinson of Ashton, Leona Tapp of Lindenwood and Judy (Ed) Zarr of Bethalto and one granddaughter, Crystal (Eric) Vondergathen.

There will be a memorial service held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, June 4, 2016 at Emmett and Carol Capes' home, 10600 E. Rt. 38, Rochelle. Cremation rites are being accorded by the Unger-Horner Funeral Home. Visit www.ungerhorner.com to sign the online guest book.
