Lillian E. Cronick, age 86, passed away on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at the Serenity Home in Oregon. She was born on August 26, 1928 in Ladysmith, WI, the daughter of Joseph and Emma Benish Haasl. Lillian married Raymond H. Cronick on April 9, 1947, in a double wedding ceremony with her brother George and his wife Dorothy in Ladysmith, WI. She and her family moved to Rochelle in 1960. She started her career working at Schultz Bro's, Ace Hardware and Sears before retiring from Contel in 1985. She enjoyed cooking, doing crossword puzzles and sewing. Lillian was known as the " Betsy Ross" of the 21st century, sewing home decor, crafts, clothing and best known for helping her granddaughter make the winning 2002 Stuck On Prom duct tape contest.
Preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Raymond on February 26, 1996; 8 siblings: Clara Endthoff, Mildred Fandel, Ralph, Don, Leonard, Fred, George, and Walter Haasl; and grandson, Jeff Ewald.
Survived by her three children: Robert (Cynthia) Cronick of Plattsmouth, NE; Thomas (Elvira) Cronick of Odessa, TX; and Suzanne (Richard) Ewald of Rochelle; 6 grandchildren: Nick (Jessi) Cronick, Jay (Laura) Cronick, Thomas Jr.(Jennifer) Cronick, Elena Cronick, Tricia (Ty) Turek, and Emily Ewald; 8 great grandchildren; brother, Joe (Shirley) Haasl; brother-in-law, John Alden; and sister-in-law, Hilda Haasl.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at the St. Patrick Catholic Church, Rochelle with Rev. Johnson Lopez officiating. Visitation will be from 5 - 8 pm on Monday at the Unger Horner Funeral Home, 400 N 6th Street, Rochelle. Burial at the Lawnridge Cemetery, Rochelle. Memorials to Alzheimer's Association or Serenity Hospice and Home.
