Obituary

Lois B. VanHise, age 89 of Rochelle, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008 at Rochelle Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. She was born on Nov. 20, 1918 in Chana, IL the
daughter of George King and Beatrice Mildred (Tilton) VanHise.
Lois was employed by Caron International in the early forties and retired after 41 years. She was a member of the Rochelle United Methodist Church, VFW Auxiliary and the Women of the Moose. In her youth, her grandfather called her "Jim' because she loved to play baseball. She was one of the few women in her day to ride a motor bike and she and Mildred McCaslin traveled the country by rail and by car. Every where Lois went, she would find people she knew and if she didn't know someone, she would introduce herself and get acquainted. Lois had a good heart and was willing to help anyone. She was preceded in death by her parents and 3 brothers: Dean, Walter and Francis.

Survivors include 5 sisters: Ella Cavanna of Rochelle; Mildred Trowbridge of Franklin Grove;
Ethel Voss of Rochelle; Beulah (Louis) Reynolds of Show Low, AZ; and Gladys Ann (John)
Bennett of Durham, NC; a brother: Robert (Marguerite) VanHise of Steward; and sister-in-law:
Eloise VanHise of Franklin Grove, IL and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at the Rochelle United Methodist Church on Monday, Jan. 14, 2008 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Brett Todd. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at 10:00 at the church.
Memorials can be made to the Rochelle United Methodist Church, Hub City Senior Center or
Ogle County Hospice. Burial will be at Lawnridge Cemetery.
