Lola M. Marsden, 93, passed peacefully with family at her side, on Sunday, March 1, 2015. A native of Rochelle, she was born October 11, 1921 to Jacob and Emma (Hansen) Foss. Lola was an honors graduate of R.T.H.S. at age 16 and was Ogle County Spelling Champion at age 12. She was employed by District 212 (R.T.H.S.) for eight years as secretary to the superintendent. She then worked in accounting at Del Monte.
Lola married Harry Marsden in 1948 and has three children: Laurel, Bradd (Melissa) and Gregg, as well as three grandchildren: Niell, Kelly and Jayson plus two great-grandchildren: Ella and Ariel. She is also survived by brother-in-law, Harold Lehrke of Virginia. Lola was predeceased by her husband, parents, infant brother, Kenneth, two sisters: Dorothy Finkboner and Evelyn Lehrke and brother-in-law, George Finkboner.
The visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:30 A.M., Friday, March 6, 2015 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle. A graveside service will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Creston. Memorials may be made to Wounded Warriors. Lola will be missed by her friends (50 years as a Pink Lady hospital volunteer) and especially by her loving children.
