Lola M. Wesemann, 87, of Rochelle, passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer on Saturday, March 26, 2016, at Kishwaukee Community Hospital in DeKalb. She was born July 10, 1928 in Waterloo, Alabama the daughter of Willie V. and Lydia (Byrd) Kurtley. She was united in marriage to Herbert J. Harvell on November 20, 1948 in Osceola, AR. Herbert preceded her in death on June 23, 1992. She then married Robert K. Wesemann on June 12, 1999 in Rochelle. He preceded her in death September 30, 2006. Lola is also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Jay and Vester; and three sisters, Rachel, Mary, and Anna; and a grandson, Mark Christopher Wren on March 21, 2007. Lola's legacy was her love for her family.
Lola is survived by four children, Phyllis Wren of Rochelle, Pat (Fred) Fletcher of DeKalb, Tom (Terry) Harvell of Rochelle, and Sherry (Doug) Bunger of Rochelle; eight grandchildren, Jeff Metzger of Rochelle, Brad (Erin) Metzger of Rochelle, Bryan (Taryn Brooks) Metzger of Chana, Matthew Fletcher of DeKalb, Adam Kary of Rochelle, Megan (Ben) Valdivieso of Savannah, GA, Melanie Kary of Rochelle, and Melissa (Jeff) Thake of Amboy; eleven great grandchildren, Samantha, Daniel, Ehren, Erich, Cailyn, Brandyn, Camryn, Brock, Brode, Briel, and Logan; one great-great grandchild, Julian; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 4-7 P.M. Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., in Rochelle.
A funeral service will be at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at the funeral home with Chaplain Judy Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Lawnridge Cemetery in Rochelle. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society. Visit www.UngerHorner.com to sign the online guest book.
