Obituary

Lorraine Lois Kehm Cote, 90, passed away in her home on May 3, 2013 with her husband by her side.
Lorraine was born June 30, 1922 on their family farm in Lee County, IL to Earl Reuben and Caroline (Brachle) Barnhart. She married Harold E. Kehm on November 14, 1941 in Clinton, IA, and lived in Steward, IL where they raised their family. He preceeded her on February 15, 1992. She then married Bertrand J. Cote on July 17, 1993 in Rochelle, IL. The family thanks Bert for his great love and the many happy years he gave to Lorraine.
Lorraine attended Steward High School. Education was always very important to Lorraine and she was a lifelong learner. She also loved gardening and spending time on the family farm in Steward, IL until she moved to Rochelle in 2008. She hosted family picnics at the farm that will be remembered for generations to come, along with her cooking. Lorraine spent years serving her first church family in Steward, IL and helping those in need in her community. Following her conversion in 1993, she was a proud member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Rochelle. As a cancer survivor, Lorraine supported the American Cancer Society as a Northern Region Fund Raising Coordinator for many years.
Lorraine is survived by her husband, Bert; her sister, Doris Burkhart, of Steward, IL; two daughters, Eleanor (Doug) Duke of Trenton, FL and Joanne Eckhardt of Rockford, IL and one son Gary (Deb) Kehm of Rochelle, IL.; six grandchildren: Janice Ashmore, Robin Eckhardt, Randy Eckhardt, Kimberly Erickson, Gary Moore and Cori Talley, and 10 great-grandchildren.

Lorraine was predeceased by her parents and brother Duane Barnhart.
Visitation will be Thursday, May 23 from 4:00- 7:00 PM at Unger-Horner Funeral Home in Rochelle. Funeral mass will be held on Friday, May 24 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Rochelle, with Father William Vallejo officiating.
Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
