Louise Kersten, 83 of Rochelle, formerly Ashton passed away on Thursday, Dec. 10, 2009 at Franklin Grove Nursing Center. She was born on Dec. 25, 1925 in Ogle County, IL the daughter of Clarence and Blanche (Johnson) Paddock. Louise married LaVerne H. Kersten on Dec. 14, 1946 in Ashton, IL and he preceded her on Jan. 2, 2004.
She was a 50 year member of Ashton Methodist Church, 1944 graduate of Ashton High School, and graduated from Northern IL University with a B. S. in Elementary Education. She taught Special Ed in Ogle and Lee County schools. Active member of NIU Alumni Chapter Tri Sigma and a life member of Rochelle Community Hospital Aux.

Survivors include son: Tom (Debra) Kersten of Rochelle; daughter: Annette (Len) Bartolomucci of Springfield, IL; grandchildren: Erin Kersten , Lindsay (Mike) Wenger;
step grandchildren: Joe (Cristi), Nick, Tara (Brian Duenow) Bartolomucci and 3 Step Great Grandchildren Billy, Casi and Brandon.

Services will held on Monday, Dec. 14, 2009 at 10:30 AM at the Ashton United Methodist
Church with Rev. Tom Renardo officiating. Visitation Sunday, Dec. 13th at Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N . 6th St. in Rochelle from 2 to 4 PM. Burial at Ashton Cemetery. Memorials to Ashton United Methodist Church and Rochelle Community Hospital.
