Luke Thomas Carmichael, 36, passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2019. Luke was born on May 9, 1983 to Thomas J. and Lynette (Stahl) Carmichael in DeKalb, Illinois. He graduated in 2001 from Rochelle Township High School, completed the Marine Mechanics Institute program and attended Kishwaukee Community College. Luke married Lishya Bloomingdale on June 2, 2007 in Rockford, IL. He was the Assistant Operating Manager for Maplehurst Farms where he worked with unparalleled dedication. He also worked for Maggio Truck Center on many nights and weekends, which engaged his passion for excavation equipment and semis. Always agreeing to finish a job economically and efficiently, Luke was the guy to call to get the job done.
His love for his family ran deep, and he worked tirelessly to support them. Luke enjoyed speed boating and snowmobiling with his family, teaching his sons about life and how to love God. His accountability brothers, Tres Dias Weekends, and his church family were integral to his faith. Furthermore, Luke was called to serve on various executive boards to support his community.
Luke is survived by his wife, Lishya; three sons, Aiden, Tyson, and Axl; mother, Lyn Carmichael of Rochelle; brothers: Daniel Carmichael of Rochelle and Grant (Chris) Toth-Carmichael of Grand Rapids, MI; grandmother, Irene Stahl; mother-in-law, Marlene (Dave)
Lawson; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Luke was preceded in death by his father, Tom, on October 3, 1997, grandparents, Leonard and Marjorie Carmichael and grandpa, Eldon Stahl.
Visitation will be Monday, June 3, 2019 from 1:30 - 4:30 P.M. and from 5:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the First Presbyterian Church, 1100 Calvin Road, Rochelle, IL. There will be a private service and burial. A public memorial service will be held Tuesday, June 4 at 2:00 P.M. at the First Presbyterian Church with Pastors Dan Sergeant and Jim Tilley officiating.
