Obituary

Mae Evelyn Ludens, 90, passed away peacefully Friday, May 19, 2023 at Liberty Court in Dixon, Illinois.  Mae was born on April 14, 1933 to Reiner and Jane (Kuper) Tammen in Lennox, SD.  On December 10, 1952, she married Matthew R. Ludens in Luverne, MN.

Mae was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Rochelle. She loved her church and was a faithful prayer warrior.  She enjoyed playing the piano and the organ, crocheting and traveling.  She was a board member and past president of the V.F.W. Auxiliary in Rochelle.  Above all, she loved her family dearly.

Mae is survived by her son, David (Sherri) Ludens of Dixon, IL; son-in-law, Les Hipsher of Brownstown, IL; seven grandchildren: Kristi Utley, Jason (Kelly) Hipsher, Tiffany Hipsher, Matt (Claudia Tarava) Ludens, Angela Ludens, Kyle (Christen) Schopp and Michael (McKanna Matthew) Ludens; 23 great grandchildren and one great great-grandchild.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Matt, on February 22, 2006; her daughter, Daisy Hipsher; two sisters: Irma Fossum and Gladys Steever; and two brothers: Francis and Ernie Tammen.

There will be a memorial service at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, June 3, 2023 at the First Presbyterian Church, 1100 Calvin Rd., Rochelle with Pastor Doug Forsberg officiating.  Visitation will be an hour prior to service from 12:00 noon to 1:00 P.M on Saturday, June 3.. Cremation care has been provided by the Unger-Horner Funeral Home.  Memorials may be made in Mae's memory to First Presbyterian Church or Unity Hospice.  Visit www.ungerhorner.com to sign the online guest book.
