Marie E. Ackland, age 70, of West Brooklyn, IL passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at her home with her family by her side after a courageous year and a half battle with luekemia, during which, she never lost her faith and trust in God. She was born on July 24, 1939 in Sublette, IL, the daughter of Ernest S. and Cora Edna Robinson Morris. Marie married Duane H. Ackland on September 17, 1961 at the Reynolds United Methodist Church in Ashton. She worked at Del Monte in Rochelle as a key punch operator and also at the Rochelle News Leader prior to retiring. Marie graduated from the Ashton High School class of 1957, and is a member of the Reynolds United Methodist Church. Marie enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and became an inspiration to all she knew.

7 grandchildren, Jamie Zhe, Douglas Silvius, Jessica Zhe, Jacob Silvius, Kyler Ackland, Kortney Ackland, and Kaleb Ackland.
3 step grandchildren: Christi Groves, Austin (Rachel) Groves, and Jennifer (Josh) Whelan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Lyle Morris, and her granddaughter, Kelsie Silvius.

Funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, March 20, 2010 at the Reynolds United Methodist Church, Ashton with Rev. Alan Meyer officiating. Visitation will be on Friday, March 19, 2010 from 4 - 8 PM at the Unger Horner Funeral Home, 400 N 6th St., Rochelle. The family requests memorials to the Reynolds United Methodist Church. Burial at the Lawnridge Cemetery in Rochelle.
