Davis Junction

Marilyn A. (Vogeler) Adams, 80, of Davis Junction, IL, peacefully passed away at home on Tuesday, September 20, 2016, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Rochelle, IL on February 22, 1936, the daughter of Jacob and Alice (Peterson) Vogeler. She graduated from Rochelle Township High School in 1954 and married the love of her life, DeWayne C. Adams, on August 3, 1957. She was a devoted wife, caring mother and wonderful homemaker, as well as being self-employed as a beautician for 19 years. She was a friend to all she met and was always willing to lend a helping hand. However, her greatest joy was spending time with her family.

Marilyn is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, DeWayne; her children: Kevin (Barbara) Adams and Nancy (Steven) Hansen; her grandchildren: Nicole (fiancee, Randy Rapier) Adams, Jacob Adams, Sarah (fiancee, Drew Colclasure) Adams, Adam Adams and Alyssa Adams; and her great-grandchildren: Brooke Bucey and Colton Vinger. She is also survived by her brothers: Donald (Tootie) Vogeler and Dale Vogeler and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents; sisters: Doris Pickreign, Barbara Ebens and Emogene Jaeger and granddaughter, Amy Adams.

The family of Marilyn would like to extend a special thanks to all the family, friends, church family, neighbors, volunteers, nurses, live-in help, and Heartland Hospice for the constant and continued love, help, and care throughout the past 9 ½ years of her health issues. Marilyn was a wonderful, kind, caring and loving woman, wife, mother, extra special grandmother and great grandmother, sister and aunt. She was blessed with a long life of traveling and making memories with her family. She will be loved and missed everyday.

Visitation will be from 2:00 - 5:00 P.M., Sunday, September 25, 2016 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, September 26, 2016 at Elim Reformed Church, 140 S. Church Rd., Kings, with Pastor Cary J. Winn officiating.
