Marjorie J. Bruns, 91, passed away Sunday, July 19, 2015 at Serenity Hospice and Home in Oregon, IL. She was born March 30, 1924 in Kings, IL, the daughter of Simon and Ida (Alderks) Doeden. She was united in marriage to Venice Wilbur Bruns on February 19, 1949 in Kings, IL. He preceded her in death on September 2, 2005. Marjorie was a member of the Elim Reformed Church in Kings where she served as an officer of the Elim Missionary and Aid Society. She also served as secretary of the church for many years. Marjorie taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and played piano. She was a volunteer at Kings Elementary School for several years.
Marjorie is survived by her daughter, Deborah (Michael) Hahn of Stillman Valley, IL; five grandchilden: Rebekah (Matt) Werner, Katie (Matt) Cecchinelli, Bridget (Jesse) Johnson; Ryan Hahn and Rachel Hahn; three great-grandchildren: Genevieve Cecchinelli, Teagan Welscher and Kinsley Johnson; and faithful dogs, Moses and Maggie.
The funeral service will be 11:00 A.M., Thursday, July 23, 2015 at the Elim Reformed Church, 140 S. Church Rd., Kings, IL. The visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M., Wednesday, July 22 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle. Burial will follow the service at White Rock Cemetery in Kings.
