Mark Edward Smith, 54, passed away on Sunday, October 12, 2014 at the Serenity House in Oregon, IL. Mark was born May 28, 1960 in Dayton, OH. to Robert and Betty (Gregory) Smith.

Mark worked at Del Monte, Inc. for 32 years as a maintenance mechanic. He had a love for fishing, boating and the outdoors. Mark also loved to spend his time playing cards with his friends and family. Mark was a loving, compassionate and caring brother, father, and grandfather and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Richard L. Smith.

He is survived by his three brothers, Gregory A. (Gay) Smith Sr. of Dixon, Robert J. Smith Jr. of Rochelle, Jim (Betsy) Smith of Lindenwood, step-son Michael Arbuckle, Grandson Joseph J. Slatton; eight nieces and nephews, Ashley Dubroskie Smith, Gregory A. Smith Jr., Gwyn Smith, Nicole Madden, Bobbie Joe (Smith), Brady Smith, Eric Lovelady, and Alex Smith; great-nephews and niece; Gregory A. Smith III, Hunter Smith, Jeremy Smith, Logan Stoker and Kennedy Wingert; uncle, LH (Mary) Smith of West Milton, OH; sister-in-law, Denise Smith (Richard) of Rochelle and his very special friend Vicky Wren.

A memorial service will be held at 6:00 P.M. on Thursday, October 16, 2014 at the Rochelle United Methodist Church, 709 Fourth Avenue, Rochelle with the Rev. Cindy Marino officiating. The visitation will be from 5:00 to 5:50 P.M. prior to the service at the church and a fellowship time will follow the service. Memorials may be made to the family.
