Mrs. Marlene Virginia Harrolle (née Thumm), age 85, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2026, in Sycamore, Illinois. Born on December 7, 1940, in Chicago, Illinois, she was the cherished daughter of Robert Thumm and Dolores Winandy Campbell.
Marlene led a life filled with dedication and creativity. She worked as a secretary for the Sycamore City Attorney's office before concluding her career at Northern FS. Her professional contributions were marked by her diligence and commitment to excellence.
In 1967, Marlene married Roger Harrolle in Oregon, Illinois, beginning a loving partnership that spanned nearly six decades. Together, they built a life centered on family and shared experiences. After retirement, Marlene and Roger enjoyed their time in Arkansas and Florida before returning to Illinois.
Marlene's life was enriched by her many passions. She found joy in gardening, crafting, traveling, and hosting gatherings at home. Family reunions held a special place in her heart as opportunities to connect with loved ones and create lasting memories. Known for her quick wit and thoughtfulness, Marlene brought warmth and creativity to every aspect of her life.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 59 years, Roger Harrolle of Sycamore; her children: Scott Anderson of Holiday, Florida; Anthony (Lisa) Harrolle of Rockford, Illinois; James (Nancy) Harrolle of Sycamore; Bradley Harrolle of New Port Richey, Florida; Robin (Brad) Sopata of Schofield, Wisconsin; and Susan (Craig) Philbrick of Sycamore. Marlene also leaves behind numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren who will carry forward her legacy.
Marlene was predeceased by her parents; her sister, Carolyn McCarthy; her nephew Michael McCarthy; her; son, Thomas Harrolle (Cathy); and her great-granddaughter Bexley Ray Harrolle.
Marlene's memory will he cherished by all who knew her. Her thoughtful nature and creative spirit touched the lives of many. May those who loved her find comfort in the enduring impact she made during her lifetime.
There will be a memorial visitation Saturday, June 6, 2026 from 10:00 - 11:00 A.M. at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle. The memorial service will follow at 11:00 A.M., Saturday at the funeral home. Burial is at Flagg Center Cemetery. Visit www.ungerhorner.com to sign the online guest book.
