Obituary

Marquand "Mark" Glosser, 85, of Rochelle, passed away on Monday, February 11th 2013 at Serenity Hospice and Home in Oregon. He was born on September 16, 1927 in Rochelle to Paul R. Glosser. In 1945, he enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard, proudly serving "the greatest country in the world" during World War II. Mark lived and farmed most of his life in Rochelle. He loved the smell of fresh turned earth in the spring, spending time in a tractor and pushing a semi truck down the road.He also developed the Goose Lake subdivision and named the street Marquand Drive after his great, great grandmother Cathern Marquand, one of the first families to settle here. Mark loved his family deeply (even hosting a slumber party for several of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren recently), fishing in the Florida Keys with his life-long friendHarvey Page and all wild life; feeding squirrels and birds at his home.

Survivors include his beloved wife Betty of 42 years; sons, Mark (April) Glosser, Bob (Susan) Messer and Bill (Sue) Messer; grandchildren, Garrett and Macenzie Glosser, Shannon (Adrian) Montelongo, Paul (Heather) Helser, Chris Messer, Brad (Missy) Messer, Steve (Stephanie) Messer and Jake Messer; great-grandchildren, Devin, Daniel and Emily Montelongo, Blake, Zack and Ava Helser and Crew, newest little Messer due in March, Noah, Owen, and Sofi Messer; sister-in-law Nancy Overton in Des Moines, Iowa; and cousins Dink in Georgia and Kathy in North Carolina.

Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Fri. Feb. 15, 2013 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home with Rev. Cindy Marino officiating. Visitation will be 5:00 - 7:00 PM Thur. Feb. 14 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Serenity Home and Hospice and/or Rochelle United Methodist Church.
