Maurice Joseph Plourde, 90, of Rochelle, went to be with his Lord on Sunday, Jan. 17, 2010 at the Rochelle Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. He was born on March 18, 1919 in Plessissville, Canada the son of Alphonse and Eugenie (Roi) Plourde. He moved to the United States in 1925 and joined the Army in 1942, serving in Europe during WWII. After the Army, he got his pilots license and loved to ride his Harley with the guys.

Maurie worked at Sundstrand Aviation and from there he started his other business of building
homes until his retirement. He was an umpire for he Rochelle Little League during the 60's,
an avid member of VFW Post 3878 and was Commander 1955-1956 and 1965-1966. He was
most proud of his Loyalty Day Parades and the Avenue of Flags. After retirement, he loved
to golf with his wife. He was preceded by 13 brothers and sisters.

He married Sarah Louise Rhoades-Adair on June 25, 1955 in Rochelle and was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Survivors include his wife: Louise of Rochelle; children: Pamela Bondan of Rochelle, Douglas Plourde of Frisco TX, David (Kimberley) Plourde of Joliet, MT, and Kathryn Marchesi of Rochelle; grandchildren: Alicia (Jeff) Detig, John Bondan, Sarah Marchesi, Sam Marchesi, Joe Marchesi, Carly Plourde and Halley Plourde; great grandchildren: Ryan Detig, Cameron Detig, and Addison Detig; Sister: Theresa Caron and nieces and nephews.

Services on Wed. Jan. 20, 2010 at 10:30 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Rochelle. Visitation from 9 to 10:15 AM on Wednesday prior to the church service.
Military Services by VFW Post 3878. Cremation rites will follow the services with inurnment
at St. Patrick Cemetery. Memorial to St. Patrick Catholic Church.
