Obituary
Maxine I. McDermott, 85, of Rochelle, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 29, 2011 at St. Anthony
Medical Center in Rockford. She was born on Nov. 8, 1925 in Rochelle, IL the daughter of Vernie Grant and Ella Mae (Hayenga) Friestad. On Dec. 28, 1946, she married Charles Henry McDermott in DeKalb, IL. She was preceded in death by a brother: Al "Sonny" Musselman; grandson: Jon LaRue and granddaughter: Rene McDermott. Maxine graduated from Rochelle Township High School the class of 1944 and was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. Her hobbies included quilting.
Survivors include her husband: Charles " Hank" of Rochelle; Sons; Daniel (Lori Bearrows) McDermott and Thomas (Denise) McDermott both of Rochelle; daughters: Vicki LaRue and Laurel (Nick Aguilar) Smith both of Rochelle; brother: Wayne (Carol) Friestad of Rochelle; grandchildren: Tom Fletcher, Megan Specht, Patrick McDermott, Cass Headon, Melissa Smith, Adam Smith, Celina Smith, Rob Challand, Amie McDermott, Tim McDermott and Julie Challand; and many great grandchildren.
Services will be at St. Patrick Church in Rochelle on Monday Oct. 3, 2011 at 10:30. With
visitation at Unger-Horner Funeral Home, Rochelle, IL on Sunday from 2 to 5 PM.
Burial at St. Patrick Cemetery. Memorials to American Cancer Society or St Patrick Catholic Church.
