Obituary
Melba L. Melton, age 89, of Rochelle, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 27, 2008 at
St. Anthony Hospital in Rockford, IL. She was born on May 7, 1919 in Mt. Vernon, IL
the daughter of Wilbur and Maude (Moore) LeMar. Melba married Howard V. Melton
on July 3, 1935 in Oregon, IL and he preceded her on May 7, 2006. She was also preceded
by brothers: Owen and Darwin LeMar. Memberships include First Presbyterian Church
and VFW Auxiliary 3878. She retired in 1978, after 25 years, from G. E. in DeKalb, IL.
Survivors include a son: Richard of Rochelle; sister: Maida Goff of Rochelle and 2 grandchildren: Brett Melton and Ross (Tracey) Melton both of Rochelle; a great grandchild:
Nikki Taylor Melton.
Services will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2008, at 2:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church
with Rev. Dr. John Hamilton and Rev. Dr. James Tilley. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 pm
prior to the funeral service on Tuesday at the Church. Burial at Lawnridge Cemetery. Memorials
to the First Presbyterian Church. Arrangements by Unger-Horner Funeral Home in Rochelle.
