Melvin A. Letheby, 94, passed away Saturday, February 7, 2015 in Rochelle. Melvin was born September 26, 1920 to Alanson and Pearl (Nylander) Letheby in Malta Township, Illinois. He married Betty M. Hansen on November 29, 1941 in Kahoka, Missouri. He worked as a supervisor at Automatic Electric in Genoa for 33 years. He also spent time working at Manitowoc Shipyards during WWII. He was a 50 year member and past master of Genoa Masonic Lodge #288.
He is predeceased by his parents, Alanson (Lant) and Pearl Letheby, infant brother, Elvin, sister, Vivian (James "Buck") Stephens, infant niece, Sharon Stephens and grandson, Michael Keast.
Melvin is survived by his wife, Betty, five children: Eloise (Roger) Keast of Malta, Allan (Sally) Letheby of Rockford, Paul (Mary) Letheby of DeKalb, Margaret (Peggy) Amoto of Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada and Amy (Jim) Moore of Fort Myers, FL; 13 grandchildren,11 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M., Friday, February 13, 2015 at Faith Lutheran Church, 14206 E. Flagg Rd., Rochelle with Pastor Joy Alsop officiating. The visitation will be from 10:00 to 10:45 A.M. Friday prior to the service. The burial will follow the service at Woodlawn Cemetery in Creston.
