Merry Louise Summers, age 66, passed away on Wednesday, October 7, 2026 at the La Bella Nursing Center in Rochelle, Illinois with her friends at her side. She was born on January 4, 1960 in DeKalb, Illinois, the daughter of Willis and Dorothy (Hammonds) Laws.

She married Rodney Lee Summers on July 13, 1984 in Oregon, IL, he preceded her in 2015. Merry loved spending time with her family and friends. Over the years, she enjoyed camping, fishing, playing cards, dice, and Yahtzee. Merry especially loved country music and any old westerns with John Wayne or James Arness in them.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rodney Summers; her three brothers: Bill (Kim) Laws, Terry (Joanne) Laws, and Ray Harold Laws; her sister, Delores (Kenny) Huffstatler; her two brothers-in-law: Jimmy Hurst and Jerry Patterson; and her grandson, Donald Summers, Jr.

Merry is survived by her son: Donald Summers of Dixon, IL; her two step-children Chad (Michele) Summers of Dixon, IL, and Jennifer (Jerry) Gieseke; her brother: Randy (Julie) Laws of Rochelle, IL; and her two sisters, Donna Hurst of Rochelle, IL, and Francis Patterson of Bloomington, IL. As well as special niece, Michelle (Todd) Inman.

Merry spent her last fifteen months at the La Bella nursing home and made some special friends, Chris Saladino, who was like a sister, Linda Raatz and Jimmy Mlejnek.
