Obituary

Dallas, Texas

Michaela F. Myers, 22, of Dallas, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 19, 2015. Michaela was born March 18, 1992 in Rochelle to David and Susan (Zuehl) Myers. Michaela graduated from Rochelle Township High School in 2010. She was a member of the Rochelle United Methodist Church. Michaela is survived by her parents, Dave and Sue Myers, of Rochelle, IL; three sisters, Andrea Myers of Dallas, TX, Calianne (Jason) Hufford of Gallatin, TN and Vanessa (Ferrin Bavousett) Myers of Carrollton, TX; Grandparents: Doug and Swan Zuehl of Rochelle, IL and Dale and Joyce Harrolle of Sun City, AZ. She leaves behind three nephews whom she loved dearly, Caden Clark of Loves Park, IL and Carter and Chase Hufford of Gallatin, TN. Aunts and Uncles: Brad and Teri Dickey, Tim and Lori Doyle, and Mike and Lori Myers all of Rochelle, IL, Jim and Vicki Tuschen of Rockford, IL, Beth Myers, Mark and Julie Bertagni, and Steve and Gwynne Myers. Many cousins: Jared (Jodi) Dickey, Jeff (Diana Gonzales) Dickey, Shane, Ben and Mike Doyle, Jonny, Cami, Cate and Andrew Myers, Nick and Michael Wolf, Hannah Mosely, Allison and Merideth Myers and Hayley Bertagni.
She is preceded in death by grandfather, Russell Myers, and great-grandmother, Susan Anderson, both of Rochelle, IL.
Michaela's true nature was one of extreme sensitivity. She was easily and deeply wounded; she cried when others were cruel. But Michaela was very smart, resourceful, ambitious and determined. As she grew, she built a new and tougher personality. She built stubborn walls to protect her fragile self; walls that she rarely let anyone crumble.
She was a very loving daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, cousin, aunt and friend. She came into this world as a "miracle baby" and came to be known as the family's mother hen, constantly caring for others. She was always trying to "fix" people and their problems. She would rather make life about someone other than herself.
Michaela enjoyed spending time in quiet moments with the Lord. She read a lot of spiritual books and loved to journal. She attended the Christian retreat, Tres Dias Sabine Creek in the Fall of 2012, where she grew even closer in her walk with God. She was very creative, had an artistic eye, and loved drawing. She was looking forward to taking classes in photography.
The funeral service will be 11:00 A.M., Monday, January 26, 2015 at the Rochelle United Methodist Church, 709 4th Ave., Rochelle, with Pastor Cindy Marino officiating. The visitation will be from 2:00 to 6:00 P.M., Sunday, January 25 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle. Burial will follow the service at Trinity Memory Gardens in Rochelle. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Michaela Myers Memorial Fund.
