Mildred McCaslin, age 96, passed away at the Rochelle Rehab and Healthcare Center on Friday, April 27, 2012 surrounded by many family members. She was born on October 10, 1915 in Hanson, IL, to Roy and Anna Card McCaslin. Most of her life was in the Rochelle area. She attended Rochelle Schools. She was a long time member of Rochelle United Methodist Church, joining in February 1929. Mildred worked at Caron International for 47 years as Supervisor of Accounts Payable, retiring in 1981. Mildred was interested in many things: church, family, friends, traveling, reading and nature. She traveled extensively including all 50 states, the Holy Land, Ireland, and Australia to name a few. In August 2004, she moved to Wesley Willows in Rockford, IL, moving back to Rochelle July 2011 where she lived out her life at the Rochelle Rehab and Healthcare Center.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father, 2 sisters: Edna Vandre, and Lillie Justis; 3 brothers: Eugene, Elmer, and Roy Jr. McCaslin; 3 brother-in-laws: Bob VanKirk, Herb Vandre, and LaVerne Justis.
Survived by her 2 sisters: Rosemary VanKirk of Rochelle, and Shirley Rainwater of Lexington, KY; her brother: James (Connie) McCaslin of Auburn, IL; sister-in-law: Moni McCaslin of Dallas, TX, God daughter: Ruth Bunger of Rochelle; and many nieces and nephews.
Mildred was a wonderful and loving sister and aunt. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Funeral Service will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at the Rochelle United Methodist Church with the Rev. Cindy Marino officiating. Visitation will be on Monday from 4 - 7 PM at the Unger Horner Funeral Home, 400 N 6th St., Rochelle. Burial at the Lawnridge Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church of Rochelle, or Serenity Hospice.
