Myron Lloyd Davis, age 99, died on Tuesday September 6, 2016 in Boynton Beach, FL. He was born on August 8, 1917 in Pine Creek Township, Polo, IL, the son of Myron L. and Martha Eliza (Swingley) Davis. Myron was a foreman for Whitcomb Locomotive making engines for the WWII War effort in Africa, he then in 1949 founded the Rochelle Vault Company in Rochelle. He married the love of his life Margaret Ellen Graf on March 20, 1943 in Rochelle, she preceded him in death on October 16, 1993. Myron is also preceded in death by his two brothers: Vernon and Homer Davis; daughter, Patricia Sanderson and longtime companion, Ida Little. He was an active member and usher for over 30 years at both St. Patrick Catholic Church and then St. Mark's Catholic Church when he moved to Boynton Beach, FL. Myron enjoyed time at his summer cabin on Caviar Lake, East of Sioux Narrows, Ontario, Canada.
Survived by his two daughters: Margaret "Peg" (Noel) Allison of Rochelle, and Myra (Brent) Olson of Bozeman, MT; five grandchildren: Margaret (Mike) Rauber of Singapore, David (Kalah) Williams of Rochelle, Grant (Julie) Sanderson, DVM of Rockford, Lauren Sanderson of Rockford and Ben Greene of Lynnwood, WA; eight great grandchildren: Ross and Griffin Rauber, Mary-Therese, Clare, Dominic, Francesca, Catherine, and John Williams; and a close neighbor and caregiver, Leela Nair.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:30, Thursday, September 15, 2016 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 207 Kelley Dr., Rochelle with Rev. Johnson Lopez officiating. The visitation will be from 4:00 - 6:00 P.M., Wednesday, September 14 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Creston. Memorials may be made to Woodlawn Cemetery.
