Rochelle

Nancy Jo Ann Babb, age 73, passed away at her home on Wednesday, July 13, 2016. She was born on August 20, 1942 in Peoria, IL, the daughter of Claude C. and Marion Priscilla (Carpenter) Babb. Nancy graduated with a bachelor degree in education from Illinois State University and was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma. She worked for Rochelle Elementary District 231 at Central School from 1964 till she retired in 2001. While employed with the district, she was a member of the Illinois Education Association and an active representative of District 231 with the National Education Association. After retirement, she helped as a library aide from 2006 to 2010. Nancy was also a very active member of the Rochelle United Methodist Church and the Rochelle Historical Society. She enjoyed listening to and cheering on the Chicago Cubs. She is preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Priscilla Babb, her step mother, Bertha Cripe Beery, and her brother, Curtis C. Babb.

Survived by her sister, Martha Babb of Peoria, IL and many dear friends including, Dianne Jenner and Sally Sawicki.

Funeral will be at 10:30 AM on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at the Rochelle United Methodist Church, with Pastor Rob Hamilton officiating. Visitation will be also on Saturday from 9 - 10:30 AM prior to the funeral at the church. Burial will be at 2:45 PM on Saturday at the Swan Lake Memorial Gardens in Peoria.
