Rochelle

Nedra was 88 when she passed away on Friday, May 30, 2025, at Manor Court of Rochelle, Illinois.
Nedra was born on May 5, 1937 in Rochelle, the daughter of Rex and Fern (Beardin) Casey, who preceded her in death along with her husbands, Melvin Lawson and Robert Knapp, and her friend, Kenny Hill.

Nedra is survived by her brothers: Guy Casey and Barry (Phyllis) Casey; five daughters and a stepdaughter: Pamela Burson, Kathy (Daniel) Zeivel, Teresa (John) Darlak, Becky (Michael) Rogers, Margaret (William) Wethington and Kathy (Philip) Kuhmichel; 15 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

Nedra graduated from Ashton High School in 1955. She married Melvin Lawson on May 31, 1955. They raised their five daughters on a farm in Ashton. Nedra married Robert Knapp on March 18, 1978, and lived in Rochelle.

Nedra enjoyed flower gardening, reading, and cooking for her large family. She crocheted, quilted, and enjoyed making flower arrangements. These talents blessed her family and friends. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were gifted blankets and quilts from Nedra's loving hands. Nedra touched many lives while serving at church, tutoring school-age children and driving friends to appointments.

Nedra had a variety of jobs throughout her life. She worked at Del Monte, Caron Yarn, Wal-Mart,
Sullivan's, Colonial Flower Shop, and waitressing at Mattera's Supper Club.

Nedra's life was all about family, faith, and friendships.

There will be a visitation on Friday, June 13, 2025, at Unger Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6 th St. Rochelle, IL, 61068, from 5:00 -7:00 P.M. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday June 14, 2025, at Faith Lutheran Church, 14206 E. Flagg Road, Rochelle, Il. 61068 with Pastor Joy Alsop officiating. There will be an additional visitation from 10:00 -11:00 A.M. at the church prior to the funeral service.  A luncheon will be served immediately following the service at the church.  Cremation care will follow the service.  Burial will be at Lawnridge Cemetery in Rochelle at a later date.
