Nicholas "Nick" John Oleson, 32, of Rockford, passed away Monday, September 26, 2016 at his home. Nick was born August 3, 1984 in Rochelle, the son of John G. And Kristina (Brown) Oleson. Nick was a 2003 graduate of Rochelle Township High School. He worked at R & D Thiel in Belvidere as a diesel mechanic. Nick was an outdoors person who enjoyed fishing, boating, hunting, camping, and snowmobiling. He was tough around the edges but had a soft heart, especially for kids. He was a true friend to many.

Nick is survived by his parents, John and Kris Oleson of Lindenwood; his brother, Derek (Christy Cunningham) Oleson of Lindenwood; maternal grandfather, Raymond Rose of Rochelle; and many loved aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Nick is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Janice Rose, and paternal grandparents, Gordon and Violet Oleson.

Visitation will be from 4-7 P.M. Friday, September 30, 2016 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home , 400 N. 6th St., in Rochelle.

Funeral services will be at 10 A.M. Saturday, October 1, 2016 at First General Baptist Church, 500 S. 12th St., in Rochelle. Pastor Corey Gilliam will officiate. Interment will follow in Trinity Memory Gardens in Rochelle. Visit www.UngerHorner.com to sign the online guest book.
